Digital transformation of raw material and logistics management

CASE STUDY

THE CHALLENGE

The beginnings of our partnership date back to 2016. At that time, the planning of raw material contracting, deliveries and production was divided into many departments that operated without automatic exchange of information between them. Some processes were monitored in spreadsheets, which, given the growing scale of production generating enormous amounts of data, required too much time and was burdened with the risk of human error. The client required digital tools to improve raw material management thanks to real-time information flow. In addition, automatic correlation of planning between individual departments was needed and, over time, also improvement in transport logistics management.

THE SOLUTION

Dedicated tools provided according to client requirements:
– TUBFLOW Raw Material System. In subsequent years, we expanded the system with a work planning and management module (including work time recording) for truck drivers for logistics and a mobile application for drivers. Recently, TubFlow has been expanded with a module enabling cooperation with external systems/companies that can automatically provide the system with data on the condition of potato crops, climate conditions, soil test results, etc. This step opens up numerous possibilities for further development of the system towards digital exchange of information with external partners specializing in specific issues on a very large scale.

THE RESULTS

As a result of the implemented innovations, the client received a single supply chain planning tool common to all departments, based on correlated data available online in real time. We have extended the information chain to a single crop over multiple seasons (crop history, potential yields). The system allows for flexible planning both long-term, over several seasons, and precise production plans down to the micro level (up to 15 minutes of the production process). Thanks to the transport module, the logistician receives real-time data on the progress of transport, which enables planning the availability of drivers and trailers and ongoing supervision of the execution of forwarding orders. Thanks to the implementation, Farm Frites Poland optimally plans deliveries correlated with production lines, reduces the carbon footprint and limits the costs of production line downtime to the necessary minimum.
